Sometimes I just get lucky with the couples that I work with. Kristina and John were one of those couples that made me really, really love what I do.
Thanks to a mutual friend of mine and K + J's, I was able to be a part of this beautiful backyard wedding. As we got closer to the wedding date, it looked like rain was going to put a damper (literally) on the wedding festivities, but by some miracle and the help of a mid-afternoon start time, the rain stopped just in time! The theme of this intimate wedding was rustic chic, with the backyard of the home that Kristina grew up in filled with tents with string lights, succulents, lace, and mason jar glasses for all the guests. The decorum was stunning and fit the laid back personalities of the bride and groom, yet the most stunning part of this event was that not everyone knew it was a wedding!! While family and select friends knew what they were in for, the rest of the guests, who believed they were attending an engagement party, were pleasantly surprised when they saw their good friends in their wedding best. It was a true testament to how beautiful of a couple Kristina and John are that everyone was more than overjoyed when they found out about the surprise wedding.
After a personalized ceremony officiated by Kristina's cousin, the reception kicked off and lasted all throughout the night. Guests enjoyed amazing food, a makeshift outdoor bar, incredible homemade desserts, and a one of a kind Polaroid cut out photo booth, complete with a few props handmade by John.
And let's not forget about pug Stanley! The cute little fur-child of Kristina and John made his wedding party debut sporting a polka dot bow tie and leather leash. He could not have been happier to see his mom and dad get married!
The whole day was in a word- perfect.
