Nicole + Luca // Seton Hall University- East Orange, NJ
I vividly remember the Father of the Bride speech from this day. Not only because he was holding back tears as he spoke about his only daughter and new son, but also because of the sweet story he shared.
Like most Dads, Nicole's father, Jim, always told her to call him if there was ever an emergency while she was attending college at Seton Hall University. One evening, he woke up as the phone rang in the middle of the night, his mind immediately racing. When he heard Nicole's voice on the other end of the line, he thought this can't be good. Then she hesitantly said, "Dad...so there's this boy...." A little annoyed but super relieved, this was how Nicole's parents first learned of their future son-in-law and how Jim knew that his daughter had found the one.
Nicole and Luca were married at the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception on the Seton Hall campus where they met during their undergrad studies. Their beautiful mass was followed by a sweet kiss but with a twist! As part of Nicole's Armenian heritage, the kiss cannot occur in front of the altar and so the bride and groom kissed for the first time as husband and wife outside on the chapel steps under a bright blue sky in front of their guests.
Following the mass, I spent time with the small wedding party in the chapel's garden sanctuary before they headed off to their reception in a classic white Rolls Royce. It was a stirringly simple day that stayed close to the core of what their love was all about. It was not over the top or extravagant but subtly classic and meaningful, highlighting the most important aspects of their wedding day--the promise to be faithful and to love one another until the end of time.
