Almost 2 years ago I photographed Josh and Ashlee during a sunset maternity session in Avon-by-the-Sea when they were expecting their first baby girl, Noelle. Now 2 years later, they have a vibrant and energetic toddler with another little girl on the way and they asked me again to be the one to capture this time of their lives.
When wedding season slows down, I love making the focus of my work become more about families.Whether it's a couple just beginning to grow their family or a family of 5 who want to have those every day moments captured, it makes me smile knowing that these moments, even the smallest ones, will be preserved and cherished throughout the years.
When photographers create our websites, we put the images that speak clearly about our brand and style right up front. I promise, I am not hiding any tricks up my sleeve or off in a secret portfolio that only some clients will find out about. I'm not a Starbucks secret menu.
This family session came about because of a request from a fellow creative, Dawn, of Modern Heirloom Books. She was working on creating an heirloom book specifically for parents to give to their daughter on her wedding day that's filled with curated childhood stories, words of wisdom, and touching memories. Parts of the book would be filled with photos from their daughter's childhood but Dawn also wanted to incorporate some newer photos, which is where I came in!
While a lot of people's first week of a new year start off with hangovers and resolutions that they may or may not keep, my 2018 New Year started by capturing a beautiful and intimate proposal for a super sweet couple in New York City!
I met up with Meg and Carmelo the day after a snow storm hit the east coast and left Central Park with a beautiful covering of pristine white snow all over. The snow didn't deter us one bit from heading out to take photos and instead helped to enhance the backdrop of their photos into a winter wonderland!
Amy and Brian chose Garret Mountain for their engagement session on a bright but chilly morning this past November. The preservation has always been a loved spot by these two and it felt like I was getting an insiders tour as they talked about the previous times that they've been there
It was absolutely freezing on the morning of Melissa and Kenny's engagement session. Like, multiple layers of pants, sweaters, hat and gloves freezing! It was the first really cold day of this past November but you would never know it when looking at these photos!
It's been 6 months but I am finally so excited to share this styled wedding shoot that I had the pleasure of working on with an incredible team of local vendors (and my adorable puppy nephew, Dice!). I created the concept for this styled shoot with 2 things in mind: 1- to showcase a chic, nature inspired wedding design for a minimalist couple.
What I really wanted to capture, besides the amazing landscape, for Kayte and Kevin (who from now on I will refer to as KJ because that's what I actually call him and typing out Kevin feels weird!) was their personalities both on their own and together. I don't think I've ever been around these two without seeing their big smiles and hearing them laugh
Maura and Kyle's Prospect Park Boathouse wedding was one of those weddings where every guest leaves proclaiming that it was the best wedding ever! From the picturesque fall colors over the lake and the gorgeous architecture of the Boathouse to the nonstop dancing, smiles, and laughter, their wedding was memorable from start to finish.
I met up with Jeff and Melissa at Booth Park in Nutley, NJ for their engagement session bright and early on a brisk fall morning. This park is like a hidden gem in my small town with beautiful willow trees and stone staircases that were being lit with the most magnificent morning sunlight.
This engagement session is proof that misty rain is no reason to reschedule your photos! The damp, deep colors of Mindowaskin Park created a spectacular and quiet landscape for Mariangel and Kieran's session.
I'm calling this my "Father of the Bride" wedding. Just like the movie, which I have to sit down and watch any time it's on tv, I could rewatch/live this backyard tent wedding any time and never get tired of it. If you've ever thought of having an at-home backyard wedding, this is your inspiration post!
Evan and Meghan have been dating since highschool but their relationship still seems like puppy love, in the best of ways! While she is finishing up grad school in Nevada and he is currently serving in the Airforce based in Texas, these highschool sweethearts haven't let the distance get to them.
Carolyn and Dominic had the perfect late summer wedding down in Cape May, New Jersey and I am so honored to have been a part of it! Dominic and Carolyn's laidback personalities were ever present throughout the wedding day--nothing seemed to phase or make them nervous.
Being around this vibrant group of girlfriends who were all so selflessly giving up their time to travel from Canada to NYC for their best friend was so uplifting and their happy vibes were infectious! I think I smiled for the entire 2 hours we spent together, and probably even the entire way back to Jersey!
What I loved about Chelsea and James' engagement session was that they made sure that it completely represented them. As an adventurous couple who love the outdoors and even got engaged while on a hike on vacation, they made sure to choose a location that felt totally normal to them.
